Can everyone tell me facts I need to know to be a knowledgable Yankees fan?

I recently attended a Orioles/Yankees game..and cheered for Yankees because I just am NOT a Baltimore fan.. anyway..I LOVED it..and i am now really into watching the games...but I dont want to be a bandwagon fan who knows nothing..so any help would be appreciated! thanks.

wikipedia the yankees, i hate the yankees, if you want to root for a new york team, the mets are more fun and more energetic than the extremely professional and boring yankees

but if you really wany to learn about it, just go on wikipedia.org and type in new york yankees
