Question:

Can excessive drinking affect getting pregnant?

I want to get pregnant in the worst way but have had no such luck, I do not drink a whole lot maybe 2 times a month but my husband drinks a lot more. Could this be why?

  1. I asked my doc about drinking and he said that drinking in moderation would not be a problem. However if someone is an alcoholic, drinking much more frequently it can be a problem. Ask him to tone it down some to see if that helps out.


  2. If you're the one who drinks a lot, maybe. If it's the man, I don't think so.

  3. I don't know.. my first was conceived when both the father and I were very intoxicated.

  4. It can affect sperm count and also hinder your chances of tracking ovulation properly, as it can throw off when your body releases an egg slightly. It's best to abstain from drinking altogether on both parts, especially yours when TTC. Have a word with your husband to see if he will cut back drinking for a while - this may be what you need to get that BFP :] Good luck!
