Question:

Can eye sight get better?

I recently went to get my eyes checked and got a lower prescription for both eyes than I've had previously. Is it possible that my eyes have gotten better or could I just have been over or under prescribed?

  1. It can happen in old age too. Some people find they can read without glasses after having needed them for many years.

  2. it really depends how much lower it went, eyes can naturally fluctuate as far as the prescription from day to day, I have noticed it in exams on my own eyes from one day to the next changing as much as .75.

If it is much higher than that, and you are not a young adult or teenager I'd be surprised by a large change.

  3. Usually eye doctors are near 100% accurate with your eye check, if you're a teenager or younger you're eye sight has a pretty good chance of improving or not getting worse. I kept going down until recently when it stopped, I'm 15. If you're older than it's a natural thing that occurs, but I'm pretty sure it's genetics and your eyes will become slightly worse each year until puberty stops or it sometimes heals itself. Eat carrots and don't watch TV/be on computer alot.
