  1. Harder?  Not really.  Bigger board?  Maybe, depends on the surfer.

    Can they do it?  Absolutely.

  2. fat people are more bouyant, so yea they can, duh

  3. How fat is "fat"?  We regularly teach overweight folks how to surf at my surf school.  We start them on a board sufficient to handle their weight and go from there.  So far this summer I've had 5 or 6 women at least 180 lbs or more get up on waves during their lesson.  The largest person I taught to surf was around 280 lbs.  He started on a 10' BIC and now rides a custom 24" wide, 3 1/2" thick, 10'3" board and has no problem catching smaller waves.  I haven't seen him out on a larger day though.

  4. ya y not?

  5. yep,but its apparent you are stupid

  6. Sure they can surf, or at least try...just like everyone else.  Our annual longboard classic here even has a category called the Big Kahuna division where you have to weigh over 225 lbs to enter, and they actually weigh you when you get your singlet.

  7. most everyone uses a long board (8'-10'-ish) when they surf for the first time. it should depend on the person if he balances well and if he can handle his body, like when he's pushing himself up to stand on the board.

but i definitely say fat people can surf. i have a friend who's really overweight and he surfs fine. yeah, he uses a longboard. i haven't seen overweight surfers shortboarding., probably cos by the time u progress to shortboards you'd have lost all the weight already.

  8. Not really. My uncle's friend is very fat and he surfs so i hope that helps!

  9. Yes, a bigger board would help.
