Can female patrol officers wear make-up?

I know this is a silly question but I was just wondering. Oh and how do they have to wear their hair? Is it just not allowed to touch their collar?

Most are required to wear make up to protect the public from hideousness and nothing beats a under cover head of hair.

All agencies are different when it comes to grooming guidelines. I have seen some departments not allow men to have facial hair, some do. The same with tattoos, some do some don't. I have worked with several different agencies and found they all can wear make-up, (the females anyway) Hair on the other hand is somewhat different. I have seen them with hair down past their shoulders. This is mostly a safety issue, because it gives a criminal a great handle. The best thing for women to do is let their hair grow out and just keep it pulled up or back. The only other issue as far as guidelines is the use of ear rings. My department allows this, some don't. However, if they are worn, they can't be the big dangling fishing lures, they must be the small stud type.

Of course they can wear make-up.  As to the hair, yes, it just can't touch the collar, so those with long hair have to put it up.  There are some other rules that can vary from dept to dept.  In my dept. the makeup can't be outrageous, something that would look un-professional.  And hair colors can't be outrageous either (like purple hair).

I always wear whorish makeup and carry around handcuffs when I dress up like a cop. Never once have had a complaint.

Of course we can. And as for the hair, it can NOT touch our collar. If its short, thats fine. If its long, pull it back and not just in a pony tail. Tuck it under so it doesnt give the bad guy something to grab onto while you're kicking his butt.
