I feel that talking to feminists is like talking to the pro-life/religious crowd.

"we are right no matter what anyone says"

  1. It all depends. If they are indocrinated, then ho hum, they are brain dead and closed minded.

If you catch a fresh feminist and show her the lies, then maybe, just maybe you might be talking to someone who has an open mind.

If you catch an old feminist, who is not g*y, who has gone through the first second and third waves of feminism, then your chances are pretty good that you will be talking to someone who can relate.

  2. angel rae-

"Some take it way too far like some African Americans still think they aren't equal.."

Deflecting blame- very good, very good dear. What does this question have to do with African Americans and why would you feel the neeed to bring that up?

^^  There's your answer... no they can't understand.

  3. We are aware of the fact that there are issues with feminism.

That some "great" ideas when put into practice/reality turned to c**p.  We are working on the issues. Thanks!

Are anti feminist aware, that not all feminist feel and believe the same thing?  just b/c one radical says something wrong, it doesn't mean that all of us agree...or that the whole movement should be scrapped?

Dual...that's cute and men arnt?  how about cars? chrome?

Edit: you didn't think the name was a joke did you? it's serious.

  4. Not all feminists think that way and I'm sorry you have met some that do.  My feminism go only as far as being treated equally with respect.  Some take it way too far like some African Americans still think they aren't equal, the women are like that too.  I still feel sorrowful to the people who don't treat races and sexes as equals because we are so far past that point it's not even funny.

  5. I understand.  Many of us do try to keep an open mind to the opinions of others.  (Note I say "try") There are, of course, those that are hate-filled misandrists, intent on female supremacy, and they will not listen to anything anyone else has to tell them.  And also the hate-filled misogynists who are just as bad.  Most of us aren't like that, but being on a public forum such as this, you will come up against more of these sort of radical crazies.  I usually just laugh.

There are some problems with feminism, I agree- yet the basic premise is a good one.  Why don't you tell us what you think are some problems- you may be surprised at the answers you get, it could make for an excellent debate, and hopefully some change for the better.

  6. Can YOU understand everything we've been saying to you for the past few months, or do you just have yet to remove your blinders? We acknowledge the problems. We oppose the inequities. We're sick and tired of the people who are sullying our reputation. Do you get it?

  7. It's even worse than that, what they sound like is any other extremist hate group. Because that is precisely what they are.

They are clearly interested in nothing less than the subjugation and oppression of all men, yet will happily moo that they are 'only seeking equality'.

It's interesting to see the mental gymnastics that they are able to pull off. It's much like a white supremacist saying "I am fighting for special rights for white people because that way we will be equal".

  8. Pretty much. That's how it is. And they play the sexism card so much even though a crowd will agree with a woman before a man especially about who the better s*x is.

If you have any problems, do what I do, next time a woman says "Woman are smarter/better than men" with an attitude, ask nicely, "Then why are they STILL fascinated with shiney objects?"

  9. That's because it's more like a brainwashed cult.

  10. I consider myself a feminist, but i have never understood the man-haters. When people ask me what it means to be a feminist, I always tell them it's simply the desire for everyone to be equal. I get annoyed at overtly sexist advertisements (on both ends; even the ones that show men being lazy or stupid p**s me off) or advertisements that show women as machines or objects (like that one robot girl heineken commercial. wtf was that?) Anyway, my roommate is the type of feminist you are referring to and it can get very frustrating discussing things with her at times.

  11. Of course.  The ideology has lots of holes.  Feminists, you can't work for equality with men on the one hand, and then play the feminine card when it's to your advantage.

  12. Well, this feminist would have a much easier time understanding your argument if you'd provide examples. Otherwise I'll have to guess.

  13. I do believe that is almost EXACTLY what Stalin said about the U.S. and democracy, something like, "Americans are too dense (or provincial?) to comprehend that their democracy is riddled with flaws and is doomed."  He slaughtered maybe up to 50 million people, one way or another, with his "pure" and perfect and problem-free ideology.  Ideologies are "problem-free" only in nightmares.

  14. Any time you find that people are unwilling to acknowledge the limitations or "down side" to their position,  you might want to look at how confrontational your communication is.

It's human nature to become rigid and resist when being attacked.

  15. which feminists are you talking about?

i'm a feminist in the sense of someone with a 'belief in the social, political, and economic equality of the sexes'

what problems are there with this?

    edit

'Sam i seem to remember you supporting laws that allow a woman to have a male member of her family put in jail at her word, for an insult'

    when? do you mean here?

    http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/ind...

when i clarified doodlebugjim's somewhat selective reading of the CPS guidelines for what constitutes domestic violence

    or here?

    http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/ind...

when i emphasised the lack of recourse many abused indian women have and the corruption of the indian police

in neither of those cases did i support laws to throw a male relative in jail just on a whim or a single insult

it seems common policy amongst anti-feminists to seek to twist feminists' words here. a somewhat base tactic
