I am getting 2 ferrets in about a week, so since playpens are half the price of a cage, i was thinking of buying 2 playpens and having 1 at my moms house and 1 at my dads. can they like in a playpen indoors instead of an actula cage? we would put all the same things inside of it, like the litterbox, the hammock, and the toys, food, and water. And bedding. So can I do that?

  1. Do you want the ferrets to be running around the house all the time?

Ferrets are very active creatures and will climb on everything and anything. You MUST put a secure top onto the "cage" if you don't want them loose in the house.

  2. You would need to buy a "ferret" playpen, that only has 3 horizontal bars (bottom, middle, top).  Even then some ferrets can climb out.  Marshall makes a playpen and a mat that can be used on the top or bottom.  http://www.marshallpet.com/marshall/mp_s...  I have heard some people say that the mats don't last.

You could find a med size cage and put it in the middle of the playpen and leave the door open when you are home and then lock them in the playpen at night and when you go out.
