  1. mine use whatever i got for my cat.

i use whatever is at the shop, so the clay gravel or the wood pellet, but they love the wood pellets cos its the noise it makes lol.

  2. I would be worried about the dust involved in kitty litter.  Even more importantly, I would be worried about the ferret eating any of the litter.  Litter, especially the clumping kind, can cause an obstruction.  This would require surgery to removed the blockage or the ferret would die.  Something like Yesterday's News is much safer.

  3. i guess cat litter is okay but it cannot be clumping! Even though it's easy to clean, ferrets often wipe their butt after doing their "business" so it can stick to them and can cause rectal problems. Shredded or ripped up egg carton ( or those cardboard trays from McDonald's or Tim Horton's, it's the same material as the egg carton). That will save you money and i've heard it works well. Also, the cat litter has to have no scent, or at least very low.

Also do not use any kind of wood chips (pine, cedar, etc), that can cause many problems, such as respiratory which is very expensive.

  4. Mine used clumping litter when I first got him; later I switched to Yesterday's News. Ordinary kitty litter is too dusty, & may cause respiratory problems.

  5. This question has been debated a lot. Many ferret owners say they use kitty litter and have no issues from it. Most ferret owners I know and many run and own shelters and rescues prefer to error on the side of caution and do NOT use it.  Try using either wood stove pellets. You can get it at most hard ware stores for around $5 for a 40lb bag. Some use feline pine, I believe it is cheaper than most ferret littererss. Yesterdays new is good but if you buy the one for ferrets it is expensivee. ry buying the one for cats. It's the same thing but cost a couple bucks less.

  6. They can use litter like cats..
