  1. nope. but most (not all) of the people in senior are 4'10 to 5'2!

figure skating might make you grow taller because you stretch your back out on so many spins, or it might stunt your growth from all of the jump landings/falling. i doubt it makes any difference to your height.

dont worry :P just drink lots of milk.

  2. no but you will get beater at it ..

  3. lol, I acctually feel taller because you blades make you taller and the heal of the boot makes you taller so, yeah...

But no it wont make you shorter...

  4. No.

You may think this from seeing so many tiny professional skaters on tv. They are just tiny to begin with, it's kind of an advantage in the sport. So many of the very accomplished skaters are short.

Figure skating actually makes you feel taller. lol. You are wearing skates with blades that make you almost 4 inches taller than you usually are!

Theres not a way it could make you shorter, unless it was some type of injury.

    Hope this helped! =]

  5. I don't know. Most Junior and Senior skaters are pretty short.

    Must be all that falling.

But I guess it could, if you start from young.

    (Just like gymnastics right?)

  6. Good lord, no.

  7. Not to be funny, but I actually felt "TALLER".

When other skaters took their skates off, or family/friends came to see me skate, I felt "taller" standing next to them WITH MY SKATES ON because of the blade height and the heel on the boot.  You figure at least a good 3 inches, eh?  When you're a shorty like me, you notice these things - hee hee.

Otherwise, it doesn't make you "shorter" (if it did, I'd sure be in trouble!).

  8. nope but if you are really young it can stunt your growth

  9. that's a good question! i've been wondering that too. if you think about it scientifically, no, I don't think it could make you shorter. unless there's something about using more energy as you're growing to skate and less to grow or something.

however... when I started skating regularly (at 13) I stopped growing. I thought "Big deal, lots of girls stop growing at 13". Then about 7 months ago (age 15) I stopped skating regularly and STARTED GROWING AGAIN. I grew an inch and a half so far and am wondering if maybe I should not start skating again until I get as tall as I want to be!!

hope this answers your question, one way or the other. good luck with skating and have a great day!

  10. I'm not sure, but it does seem to be the trend that skaters and gymnasts are little people.  Maybe it can stunt your growth if you are at an elite level at a very young age....I could see how being pretty muscular and regimented at a young age might slow your upward progress.  :)  I stopped growing right around the time I started skating, so even with skates on, I'm usually about average height or finally looking people in the eyes!  I swear my feet shrunk from skating though!!!  I used to wear a size 7 1/2 in womens and now I wear a 6!
