I accidentally deleted all my photos from my computer a month ago!!! Don't ask!!! Was trying to transfer them from one hard drive to another and there was a Access Denied error and they all disappeared!!!

My question is, can a computer technician retrieve them? And how long before they are gone for good???

  1. You should be able to run a program like "undelete" or ontrack easy recovery, they usually have a delete recovery option.

If not a raw-recovery can be done on the drive, a bit more time consuming, but it can be retrieved.

  2. Yes, as B said, software like easy recovery. I think once you've rewritten over those sectors, the data is permanently lost. You won't know where on the drive it was written, so just try it.

  3. Yes they can be found, but getting the software that will do it might be harder.

There are some file recovery software on the market to buy,

But some of the better ones are not so available, there are probably better ones for sale now, I have not checked recently

An ex-work mate got his hands on some specialist software through a "Friend of a friend"

The file will only be gone for good if the scattered data gets overwritten

  4. Of course. You can retrieve files that you deleted permanently from your pc. But you have to use any programs like Tune Up Utilities or Ultimate Restorer, etc.
