Can filing down the sealant cause damage?

If a dentist files down a sealant and gets the tooth instead, causing a change in smoothness that can be felt by the person's tongue, can that be damaging? Has tooth enamel been scraped off?

  1. It depends how much was filed off.  Have another dentist take a look.

  2. DAMAGE TO THE TOOTH IS UNLIKELY, DON'T WORRY

  3. No it would be unlikely that the dentist filed the tooth. If it was tooth structure it wouldn't harm it. However could it just be the sealant that your feeling is sharp to your tongue ( the sealant should be clear or opaque). In any case go back it should be smooth otherwise your tongue will continually touch it.
