Can films get awards (e.g oscars) for their story/plot? What are the awards called?

You see films get awards for cinema/effects, but what if a film had a moving plot e.g real-life moving plot, can you get a award for that say if you're a director?

Also, can you get awards for real life stories made into films, what are they called?

The award for the best storline or plot is the Best Screenplay award.

It's called best screenplay, you can get Oscars etc. for it. However as the director you wouldn't get it, unless you also wrote the script.
