  1. Either. Basically comfort food!

  2. Soul food is related to southern food. It can be made by anyone. If you ask a real good soul food cook who happens to be black she'll say, it's what I put in it and the amount of love I put into it. Collard Greens, soul food, the best I had was by black and white cooks.

  3. this is no longer a racial term, IMO.

soul-food is also 'comfort food'.  food that makes you feel good.  food that's more than something to fill your gut with.

some african american people might wish that it were something only they can lay claim to (and the term may have originated there), but the fact is...  there is soul food from any country and ethnicity in the world.

  4. Soul food can be made by anyone. They also call a lot of the foods a Comfort food.

  5. Only if it is made by Black people, otherwise it's southern cooking.

  6. Soul food can be made by any where from anyone

  7. Those answers are inaccurate.

Soul food is an American cuisine, a selection of foods, and is the traditional cuisine of African Americans of the Southern United States and of black communities beyond. In the mid-1960s, when the Civil Rights Movement was just beginning, "soul" was a common adjective used to describe African American culture, and thus the name "soul food" was derived.

  8. No baby girl, ANY food that is made from the heart is "soul food". As long as you put your heart and foot into it and most of all your love in it than it is soul food. It could be made from scraps, it could be a pb&j sandwich, but as long as you made it lovingly and took your time with it...than my dear love..it is soul food. It comes from the soul, it nourishes the soul.:)

  9. I think white people can make soul food - it's more ingredients and techniques than ethnicity.

  10. Soul food is simply African-American cuisine. Anyone can make it and call it soul food. You don't have to be black to have soul.
