So, I really want to go to Japan in 2010. I've been doing loads of research on it, and I stumbled across the requirements page for YFU and it says "Students must be in physical and emotional health" or something like that. I was worried about it, so I e-mailed the program, and this is what they said to me, "Thank you for your interest in Youth For Understanding! Many times we are able to have students participate in certain country programs even if they are diagnosed with clinical depression. Japan however, would probably not be an option, but we would still invite you to apply if you would want to. We would need detailed information when we receive your application about your past depression. Every application is looked at individually and every student's situation is different." I do not understand why I would be able to go to other countries and not Japan. Can anyone explain this to me please? I also e-mailed ASF, and they pretty much said the same thing. What's the deal?
