Question:

Can foster parenting be a full-time job?

I'd love to be a foster parent and make a difference in the lives of children. I am a single parent and I work full time and I'm sure that trying to be a foster parent and continuing to work would be a disaster. While I have no desires to get rich, is it possible to make foster parenting my job? Does it pay enough to cover housing, food, etc?

  1. No there is not a lot of money. What money you get is for the foster child.  What would you and your children live on?  What about medical coverage?  Being a foster parent is something you do to make a difference in the world, not earn an income

  2. It probably depends on where you live.  I know that I had a single friend who was looking into fostering and they wanted her to quit her job so she would be home full-time and she decided not to do it, because she didn't think it would be enough money.
