Can frozen egg whites be thawed and used for meringue?

I have accumulated several frozen egg whites and was wondering if I could thaw them and make meringue.

  1. I cant see why they shouldnt work!!! If, however, they are like over a year old, it might not work quite well.

    Remember: freezing food doesnt keep it fresh forever, it simply preserves the food for much longer


  2. yes you can without a problem as long as there is no oil or egg yolk in them. add a little cream of tartar to help them stiffen up better

  6. yes, but you wont be able to get really stiff peaks as some of the protein is denatured and not as flexible as fresh egg whites, you should just save them for cupcakes or a souffle

  8. Yes, they will still hold a peak even after freezing.  Just let them thaw (of course) before beating.  :)
