Question:

Can gas valves be on the appliance end of the connector hose?

If local code says each natural gas appliance needs a valve to shut the gas off, is it usually ok for that valve to be on the appliance end of the hose that connects it to the gas pipe? Or is it usually required that the valve be on the gas-pipe end of the hose?

  1. hi there. nfpa54 states that the shut off must be with in 5 feet of the appliance in the same room. when i install them i try and keep them closest to the gas valve only for the ease of being able to work on the unit and and still being able to reach it.
