  1. It is an urban myth I am afraid, ( the modern and polite expression for an old wives' tale.) The  theory of spontaneous generation was debunked and  replaced by the germ theory in 1860 by Pasteur.

  2. Lie , U Get Them By Othere Peoples Germs

  3. i dont think its a myth...personal experience!! i love the rain..it just gettiing wet in the rain, and alll the cold air hitting you gives you the cold and a runny nose!!

  4. Useally when it rains its cold, So you can get a cold.It might be germs but if you look at it- You can die from being cod and you can catch a flu. It might just be me but i get cod when i walk so its best to cover up.

  5. Myth. Cold, flu etc are caused by germs.

  6. Myth.

  7. Its a myth, its nasty little germs passed on by coughs and sneezes that cause colds.

  8. Its a Myth.

  9. NO , Flu or Common cold is caused by the influenza virus not by rain.

  10. If you step out of the cold into a warmer area the inside of your nose will moisten. If anyone near you sneezes (and the resulting sneeze causes germs to travel fast and far) any droplets into the air - that moist area in your nose is an ideal breeding ground for those germs. Any number of germs which you inhale can cause symptoms of a common cold - or, possibly flu.

  11. This is of course an urban myth...although there is some truth behind it..changing body temperature, particularly coming from cold and wet to warm can create an ideal breeding ground for germs/virus's if you were to come into contact with a virus, by inhalation or contact etc.

  12. no, but i don't think it'd help you if you already had one.

  13. if your throught is cold you will get sick.

keep your neck warm you will be fine.

  14. Don't care getting wet in the rain is fun

  15. when you get wet, your body spends most of it's

enerygy trying to keep you warm

and if had an anti-body that was recessive, it

becomes dominant because your body is not fighting it anymore, but

trying to keep you warm, and in most cases, these anti-bodies

are the influenza virus which causes flu. get it now?

  16. It's a myth. Flu/Colds come from germs not getting we in the rain, otherwise you'd be getting colds from taking a shower everyday.

  17. Nope, its actually a myth. MSN did a write up about it with myths and facts about colds/flu, check it out =D

  18. It's a myth my pedigree chum. A cold is just around more in the winter because of the lack of fresh air we all get by staying in, not the cold itself.

  19. I believe being in the rain makes you more prone to cold. Being in the cold reduces the efficiency of your immune system.. and thus creates windows of opportunity for germs and the like. This is how you get sick. ....I think. XD

  20. myth; hypothermia is caused by cold. BUT you would know oif you had that.

The theory comes from the fact that most people get colds in winter because we make the environment warmer (e.g. using more heating) and so germs can multiply at a higher rate.
