My baby was not taking my breastmilk day before yesterday.so i gave him bottle yesterday(expressed milk). He's not taking my breastmilk straight today also. Is it the same problem as day before yesterday or he has got nipple confusion because of the bottle i gave him yesterday. He sucks for like 2 mins and then pulls off crying. Please help

  1. Call The Doctor.

  2. Not at all, my friend who's recently had a little boy breastfed her baby and bottle fed too. She changed between the both si he became used to the both of them...This was a great advantage for her as she could let others help her and was great for when her and her partner went out for some time together...

If he struggles to get along with the bottle try and use nipple-like teats...Tommee Tippee do great nipple-like teats...

    Good Luck!

  3. I doubt nipple confusion has happened but you should be concerned with why he is crying after a few minutes of nursing.  Have you tried to change the way you are holding him to nurse?  Don't wait for him to get really tired before you nurse he may just be too tired.  Are you engorged?  If your breast is too full it may be hard for him to latch on properly, try to express some out first and then see if he can latch on better.  Good Luck and don't give up on breastfeeding.

  4. Call the hospital where he was born, they may have a lactation consultant that can help you  figure out what's going on. In the meantime check inside his mouth there might be a sore or something that the harder sucking that's required off your breast could be causing him pain. Or he could just realize how much easier it is to get milk out of the bottle. I would try consistently to get him to breastfeed if it's your wish to continue, if he's offered nothing else he will eventually take it.

  5. babies don't get "nipple confusion" because they aren't confused.  it's nipple preference, when drinking out of a bottle it is easier to get the milk so they will of course CHOSE to drink from a bottle rather than a breast unless breastfeeding is well established first.
