Seems diamonds manufactured are not as hard as the ones produced by evolution. Can gold be scientifically produced and what are it's contents?

  1. Gold is an element, as is carbon.  Graphite is a form of carbon.  Diamond is a form of carbon.  Graphite and diamond are two different arrangements of carbon atoms.  We can reform carbon from graphite into diamond, but there is nothing to reform to make gold.

  2. Sort of with enough time and energy it could be possible to assemble the right number of protons, neutrons, electrons to form gold or remove them,  however as of now the only elements that are normally  formed in nature are helium from fission such as the sun and lead which is often formed from the radioactive decay of uranium.

  3. ..man is still trying...

  4. Diamonds are a form of carbon.  When they make diamonds, they start with carbon in some other form.  Gold is an element like carbon, but carbon is common as dirt, and gold is quite rare.

As someone pointed out, if you have a nuclear accelerator you can work with thorium and subtract protons until you have an atom of gold, but it is much cheaper to buy gold on the world market at $825.80US / troy ounce.

  5. Small quantities fo Gold can be man made by bombarding Lead (or other elements) with Protons and Neutrons in a nuclear reactor. It's not economically sensible to do, but it is possible and has been done:

  6. gold is an element, so are diamonds, carbon, but to make a diamond you start with carbon.  so, no, you can't make gold like diamonds are made.  you'd need to start off with gold.
