  1. our government is comprised of "We The People" so yes it is of the people and for  the people

It is a Constitutionally limited democratic republic

dont fall for the thought virus the right wing spreads around that makes people think that government is seperate from the people famously spawned by Ronny RayGun

The nine most scary words to the american people is "we're from the government and we're here to help"

    WE ARE OUR GOVERNMENT!!!

that is why the right wing wants to discourage participation

Paul Weyrich, father of the right-wing movement and co-founder of the Heritage Foundation, Moral Majority and various other groups tells his flock that he doesn’t want people to vote. That’s why the GOP is obsessed with voter fraud (the TRUE problem is ELECTION FRAUD)—only they want to disenfranchise voters because as Weyrich said back in the ’80’s…the more voters there are—the less of a chance the wingers have in any election.

Paul Weyrich: “Now many of our Christians have what I call the goo-goo syndrome — good government. They want everybody to vote. I don’t want everybody to vote. Elections are not won by a majority of people, they never have been from the beginning of our country and they are not now. As a matter of fact, our leverage in the elections quite candidly goes up as the voting populace goes down.

"people shouldnt fear their government - government should fear their people" - v

  2. In theory yes. In practice no.

The reason why is simple. Government is always in tension with the governed. Though the people are supposed to be heard through their representatives, in practice the representatives are self-motivated to: (a) fulfill their own agendas and (b) impose the views of their supporters and lobbyists on the governed.

The fact is that government has grown into a large, stinking hulking corpse that ravages the common man.

  3. Not usually. Many governments are just in place to protect the status quo. Government often fails the common man.

  4. it could, but then, the rules will be bent so far that the government would be NONfunctional and the nation would fall apart

  5. Sure as soon as we kick them neocons out on their assets.

  6. Our Government did function for the common man.  I believe FDR called it the NewDeal.    Reagan with is war on the middle class has  made it that government functions for those who can afford it.   The Bush's and Clinton kept his  anti government  policy going.

  7. No.

Government has its job described in black and white if you ask me.

Protect and defend the constitution, not re-interpert or add to it.

Protect us from enemies, both foreign and domestic.

thats it. anything else is meddling

  8. It used to but we forgot this reallycool document called the Constitution that ensures that power cannot be grabbed by those who wish to.  If we followed it with the teachings of the founding forefathers then yes it can.  But not as long as idiots exist that think this is a democracy not a republic.

  9. No. Government is the root of all evil. It is owned by the rich elites who abuse the common man.

  10. Sure, and it does quite well, but it would be better if it just left him alone to function for himself..
