Can grass grow back once it's burnt and weeds are grown? [URGENT]?

I wet my grass for an hour at evening every day [except rainy days] and mow my lawn but my grass seems to grow weeds and is seeming to look burnt, very BURNT!

I NEED help on how to keep my grass from getting burnt and from growing weeds!!!

  1. Well first, your watering too much. Unless you live in the desert, 1 hour 3 times a week will keep your grass healthy.

    Take a soil sample to your local nursery. They can analyze the sample and suggest the proper fertilizer. Don't over apply.

    Make sure you use a grass that is tolerant to your climate

    A healthy yard will choke out most weeds, so don't use much herbicide.

    Fertilizer and pesticide/herbicide runoff from urban properties is a major water quality issue. Please use wisely.

    Watering in high sun hours can sometimes cause the water to act like a magnifying glass for the sun.

    Also, don't water in the evening, because wet grass all night in the dark is just asking for fungus to grow.

    You can buy some weed 'n feed, but be careful not to over fertilize your lawn. You should not have to fertilize very often, once or twice in the summer, and then put like winterguard on in the fall, if you are in a colder climate.
