  1. It should be fine.. Just make sure you pick up small objects it can eat. Otherwise your o.k.

Also it might nibble at the Carpet of furniture but it won't tear it apart.

Some times they p**p or pee so watch for what it does.

They tend to do this if they are nevous.

  2. all i know is that you shouldnt keep them in the sun too long. Today i came home from work and my sister was bawling and crying that her guinea pig died. She had put the cage outside so that the guinea pig could get some fresh air but it obviously caught heat stroke instead lol even though it was in the shade. But heat stroke was my most logical guess

  3. My guinea pigs chewed on the wires. But that was about it. Except one of mine chewed up my 20 dollar bill.

But they should be fine. Dont let them eat small objects.  But they are not going to tear up everything.

  4. It is in their (and your) best interest for them to live in a cage, but you do need to take them out for at least 15 minutes a day. When you do, be sure to keep a good eye on them, because I can guarantee that the first thing they will do is go looking for food and will eat anything from grass to crumbs under the table.

Make sure it is in an area with little hiding space, because once they get away from you, it is not easy to get them back (they're very fast runners) and they can squeeze into very small spaces.

  5. they will hide in small places so i wouldn't if i were you i lost my garble doing that but if you do be Sher you plug all the little holes and under the fernecher.

  6. I have heard of people that allow their piggies to run the house "free range". Personally, I wouldn't be able to deal with all the poops left behind.

An easier solution is to have a piggie proof area that is easy to clean (bathroom, laundry room, area of the kitchen). The room should be free of anything that could potentially harm the piggie such as electrical wires or cords, spaces where the piggie could get behind a stove or refrigerator or washer/dryer, etc.

Many people, including myself, make homemade play pens out of the cubes for C&C cages. I tie mine together with nylon zip ties. Then I put some old towels on the floor inside the playpen and let them run! I add cardboard tubes and boxes filled with hay, as well as some fresh veggies to the playpen and they have a great time!

  7. It really just depends on the pigs. Most of the time they're ok, but make sure you are watching them all the time. None of my rodents, Guinea Pigs or otherwise, ever chewed my wires, but seemed to like the fabric on our couch.

The biggest problem is the pee - they don't seem to mind going to the bathroom in the worst possible places, and it isn't very fun to have guests over, just to have them notice a corner stained yellow and full of dried poops. =P

As I said before, just keep a close eye on them all the time, so if they start chewing, you can either pick it up or chase it away without any accidents. =)

  8. I always find a safe room or area to let mine run. I've used the bathroom and the hallway. Picking a small area makes it easier to pig proof.

  9. it would  not be a good idea, you never know what the guinea pigs can eat or get stuck in. They sell playpins that you can put them in to have much more controll over the pigs and it would keep them safer!
