Can hacking ever be justified?

Question

I don't think it can obviously but I want to know what other people think. Like the US Homeland Security issue, when I read about that I just cracked up. However it was a serious issue I suppose.

Absolutely, the government utilizes hackers in reference to other systems....spying...ect...Hackers are also essential to the continuing development of Cyber protection, and the testing of encryptions.

I think the government shouldn't be using such systems if they aren't secure. Hackers provide a free service.

of course it can. actually, hacking isnt necessarily a bad thing. they have a name for them. white hat means the hacker does everything within the law. grey hat does a bit of both, and black hat does illegal stuff. usually, hackers are hackers and hack simply because they want to see if they can, because they want to see there limits, to see what they can do. it would seem this guy wanted to see if he could hack homeland security. but if its for the right reason, it can be justified.

I love hackers. Someone has to keep the govt on their toes.
