  1. Yes, of course they can destroy your stuff and most likely they will. See, rodents need to chew things frequently to wear down their teeth as their teeth grow continuously throughout the rodent's life and if they are allowed to grow too long it becomes painful. Hence, they chew things. Do not leave your hamster unsupervised when out of the cage, this will lead to disaster! Worst case scenario, your hamster could get in a fall or a tangle and die. He or she could also chew something they really shouldn't, such as a wire (or your homework). If I were you I would give him or her things to chew within the cage and keep a close eye on him or her when playing outside the cage. The best thing I found was to give them empty toilet rolls and bits of egg carton, they chew it and play with the scraps, and use them as tunnels. It is very cute to watch and helps with their teeth.

  2. YES you need to keep an eye on it it will chew things into peces (not good)

  4. They are rodents. They can squeeze into very small places and get into alot of trouble. They LOVE to chew and can chew wires etc and your clothes and fingers and basically whatever they want. If you want to let it free without a ball id set boundries for it using something as walls and SUPERVISE. i wouldnt just let him rome free

  5. All rodent LOVE and need to gnwa, so there is a good chance that your hamster would chew on something. You should NEVER let your hamster loose they are quite fast and can squeeze into small places.

  6. Ive never done this before with my hammies but I'm thinking of doing it soon.

OK so take a couple of his/her favorite toys and the wheel into the bathtub. u can let them run around and do what ever they want but SUPERVISE! because they r rodents and will find a way down the drain or something.(id block the way to get to the drain.

or u can get a wire playpen at the pet store and rip a box into a big square so it has a flat surface and an easy clean up

    hope i helped xD

  7. yea... our hamsters would chew out of their cage several times... and once somehow ended up in the clothes hamper and destroyed my favorite pair of jeans along with several other clothes...

  8. All rodents love to chew. So, more likely then not, your hamster will destroy some  furniture if left to wander the house. I suggest keeping the little guy in an exercize ball.

  9. Your hamsters can definitely destroy your stuff when free.  When my brother's hamster escaped his cage, he chewed up the internet cable and the cord to a clockradio.  It's a miracle he didn't get electricuted.

But after a while, he was allowed to roam around the room freely but only if my brother was home and can keep an eye on him.  The hammie would still sometimes reach for a dangling pant leg and chew it up, but he was generally fine.  He'd even waddle back into his cage when he'd get tired, hungry or thirsty.

After your hamster's gotten comfortable with you, you should let him roam about but only if you're watching, and the door is closed ..and no clothes are dangling off a table.

Oh...and I'm only referring to teddy bear hamsters.  If you have dwarf hamsters - especially crazy robo ones like mine - then do NOT let them roam around freely, unless you have a secure fence, like a playpen.  I've spent many hours waiting for them to waddle out of corners.  They're impossible to chase.
