My hamster was only 1 year and 11 months (or 10). She was a Syrian, cream and blond striped hamster. I went on vacation 2 weeks ago, and before that she was bleeding, well, from the first hole under her tale (her butt-hole). It stopped 3 days after, before I left for vacation. Sadly, she died yesterday morning. Her body felt bloated and my mother said she wasn't pooping or urinating, or eating much or drinking much. Her waste couldn't pass through her body, and she suddenly looked like she was really old. She was found lying on her side with one eye open and bedding in her mouth.

(I was on vacation the whole time. My mom described this all to me.)

  1. she could have spared you the details.  Hamsters can die of lots of things, I just lost 2 who were close to 2 yrs old, respiratory problems, from using Aspen bedding I believe. It was the only change in their lives and they were dead by the time the bag was empty.
