Can having an FM modulator conncected to your audio system interfere with reception of some stations?

I have an FM modulator connected to my stereo system to hear the DVD thoroughout the speakers using the stereo. Can this interfere with radion reception because i have a lot of static on some stations that normally come in clear on other cars.

  1. yes if you can't turn off the modulater it will interfere.


  2. Yes. Generally the interference will be on the stations closest to the setting you have on the FM modulator.

    The poorer the quality of the FM modulator, the more interference you'll have.

    Usually FM modulators are set at frequencies where there aren't any stations (like 88.1 or something). If you have a radio station that you listen to, that has a frequency close to the frequency set on your modulator, you should consider changing it. If you have static across a wide range of frequencies, either the modulator was installed wrong (antenna wasn't properly inserted into it) or it's c**p.
