Can having my lcd tv to close to my microwave damage it?

my microwave and tv are about a foot apart from each other

I dunno...I had an mp3 player with a touch lcd screen. I set it on top the microwave and plugged it in to charge (yes, im positive the screen was still good at this point in time and that it never was dropped). Anyway, my dad came along that morning and used the microwave and the top of the screen where the charger is was damages.
