Can heavy cloud cause damage to plane & crash?

when a plane bumps into heavy cloud,it causes some serious turbulence.So can these cloud cause damage to the plane & crash?

One time I was flying and I looked out the window in seen a big cloud coming our way. For some reason I knew we were doomed so I put my head and closed my eyes and the plane began to shake in drop. Obviously Im still alive but it was the most frightning thing that ever happen to me in my entire life.
