  1. Not unless you have your very first attack while pregnant.  If you had your first attack before you were pregnant then then bub will be fine.  If you have your first attack while pregnant you need to see the doctor as it can affect the bub.

Talk to your GP they can put you on medication to stop attacks while you are pregnant and breastfeeding if that's what you want.

If you have an active attack during labour they will need to do a C-Sec as it can be very dangerous for baby to come into contact with it during delivery.

Famciclovir and Acyclovir are both used in pregnancy as is Valacyclovir.

  2. I don't belive so.  My friend had herpes during her entire pregnancy and the baby is perfectly healthy.  If you happen to have a herpes outbreak during labor, I think that could potentially be passed on to the baby.

  3. not if you already had your first outbreak. If you have an outbreak while in labor you will need a c- section. Your doctor will most likely prescribe you medicine to take the last month of your pregnancy to prevent this. IF you have an outbreak during your pregnancy it's safe to take valtrex. Goo luck and don't worry your baby will be healthy, just make sure your doctor knows whats goin on.
