Can high frequency sound waves destroy your hearing?

Noises that are too loud can damage the delicate hair nerve cells that line the inner ear, possibly leading to permanent hearing damage or deafness. My question is, can this type of damage still be done by sound frequencies that are outside of our hearing range (such as a really loud dog whistle, for example). Why or why not?

  1. more so than those we can hear.  the higher the fregency.  higher the damage.


  2. Yes, I have been tested after years of working at a military airfield, i have lost about 20 percent of my hearing. Mostly all in the upper frequencies.

  3. Energy is related with the frequency.High frequency means higher energy.It has teasing affect.
