Noises that are too loud can damage the delicate hair nerve cells that line the inner ear, possibly leading to permanent hearing damage or deafness. My question is, can this type of damage still be done by sound frequencies that are outside of our hearing range (such as a really loud dog whistle, for example). Why or why not?
