I presently go to an eye doctor in my town who has given me my exams for the last few years. When I go for an exam, there is a part where she hold what appears to be some sort of pen light, just a bright white light like a flashlight directly into my eye less than a half an inch away for almost a minute. It gets to the point where I can't keep my eye open, and all I can see is those large spots like when you stair at the sun or into a lamp. Anyway, It starts to hurt, and I always thought that could damage your eyes. And it seems to my that I cant see as clearly as I could before she does that, Im not sure if this creates long term damage or has anything to do with why my eyes my be getting increasingly worse.

  1. NO

  2. i think if u look at the sun or hold a normal flashlight in ur eyes it isnt good.. but they might have special kinds of flashlights.

  3. i don't think so... it'll just hurt your eyes for a minute of 2. but don't look into the sun for like an hour or you'll go blind

  4. Don't worry about it, there are no dangerous rays coming out of the opththalmoscope the Dr. uses to see the back of your eye.

A bright light will make you see spots after, but it isn't doing any damage...short term nor long term.

Don't ya think it's kind of silly to think they would be using something that will damage your eyes ?
