  1. I think hot dogs are totally nasty, but I never heard of anyone getting liver disease because of "too many hot dogs" and I work in health care.

I heard of people's livers getting destroyed because of alcohol, infections and poisoning; but not hot dogs or any other food item.

  2. Animal meat and proteins contain toxins that can damage the human liver, and these toxins are higher in hot dogs and pork. I suggest vegan hot dogs such as Tofurky Franks or Lightlife Smart Dogs.

  3. psshh no but they r unhealthy. they just wont KILL ur liver.

  4. I think you would have to eat an unbelievable amount of them...

    Don't stress over it...

  5. Anything in moderation is fine.

    The key word...moderation.

Would I eat a dozen hot dogs on a daily basis for years on end?  No.

Among a healthy diet rich in whole grains, fruit/veg, and lean meat, is the occasional hot dog or two going to cause problems?  No.

Hebrew National makes reduced fat hot dogs that are kosher (all beef) and actually taste good.

  6. Are you eating hot dogs spiked with vodka?

Hot dogs and other highly processed meats sometimes contain preservatives that in high doses have been thought to be harmful.  But it has not been proven harmful for humans in the amounts we are exposed to when eating them as a part of a healthy diet. . . .or even eating a whole lot of it.

You would probably have to sit and eat hotdogs for several hours a day to eat enough of those preservatives to match what is used in the experimentation process.

    Happy munching!

  7. They are highly processed - that much is for sure.

Also wondering if your talking about the meat or soy hot dogs.  Not that it really matters - other than the point if you eat meat or not - both highly processed.

As has already been pointed out - moderation in all things.  Common table salt can indeed kill if you take too much in (talking massive amounts here).  So if your not making a diet totally out of hot dogs - soy or meat based - you should be ok.
