  1. Substitute teaching can not replace student teaching.  Generally, the point of student teaching is for you to be observed and evaluated by a licensed teacher.  When you sub, you don't get that supervision and evaluation.  Student teaching is also a for-credit experience.  I don't think that any college would set it up so you could get credit for being a substitute.


  2. You'll have to ask your credential advisor. Generally speaking, the answer is no, but sometimes if you get a long term sub position they'll count that as student teaching. Each district is different.  

  3. Not in VA. On teacher's applications, it specifically says DO NOT INCLUDE SUBSTITUTE TEACHING! Student  teaching and practicum does count towards teacher training. I have heard stories where someone did so well in student  teaching that she was hired as a long term sub for the school before the semester was over, though.
