Well with all these hurricanes being born out in the ocean, ive begun to worry a bit, especially seeing Hurrican Gustav as a category 4 almost 5 out there, and Tropical Storm Hanna in the ocean able to gain alot of strength.

For anyone that lives in South Florida, does anyone know what category hurricane can a house withstand here? Ive been curious. My house was built near the mid 80s and did go through Hurricane Andrew which was a Category 5 which most of you know. Im not sure how strong the winds where here in Palm Beach but Andrew had sustained winds of 165, which means that it was probably 155 here.

  1. I grew up in South Fl & recently came back.

Since I was born, no storm has directly hit PBC.

Also since the damage caused by hurricane Andrew state building codes have been greatly heightened.

If your home is CBS constructed, I doubt that you have little to worry over if your home has been properly maintained over the years.

  2. Thats my home town, i hope it will be alright.

  3. all i know is that my prayers are with all of those that are in the path!

God Bless YOu all.  I have great friends that live in Boca - god bless them!
