Are pandemics a way for the earth to cleanse itself or re-balance just a bit? Do humans have it in us to be less of a problem to the earth?

  1. LOL!!  My husband and I say that all the time about humans being a virus.

I do think that humans have it in us to be less of a problem.  From what I have read about early pagan and Native American cultures, they both had the understanding that they had to work in cooperation with nature and all around them.  Since we all came from these type of cultures originally, it is possible to go back to this.

It seems that the mind set that the Roman Empire spread of this forcing nature instead of  working with it.  Is the mind set of our culture today.

This does not mean that we all have to go live in a straw hut and bay at the moon.  Little changes in the way we live our daily lives is what is important.  Just consider the world around you with every action you take.  Like a ripple effect.

It is really just about thinking differently as a people and a culture as a whole.  For example teaching our children to respect their environment and about nature is a good place to start.

  2. What a disgusting concept.  Humanity is not a scourge on the planet (although a few humans have been).

We couldn't kill this planet if we tried.  Even if we blew everything in the world up, we would only make it sick for a while.  It would recover.  It has recovered from the Chixulub event which is thought to have killed off the dinosaurs (and was 2 MILLION times more powerful than the Tsar Bomba, a 50 megaton bomb built by the Soviets).

I'd like to know why a beaver blocking a river and flooding several square miles of terrain is considered "natural" but me building a house is not.

  3. Viruses are an example of elegant, self replicating DNA design which drives the evolution  of all other species.  As the head of the Genome Project put it: "Viruses are the language of God."

Humankind is just a fluke of evolution.  Through medical science we are halting our own evolution, but we cannot stop the evolution of viruses; the viruses will be here long after we are gone.

  4. I think so, I think the world was trying to get rid of a bunch of us by coming out with AIDS!!!

  5. we are if we keep going the way we are

  6. Absolutely, and like all deadly viruses they destroy everything they can get their hands on. One difference, though....no other virus destroys itself.

  7. We definitely have a "parasitic", rather than symbiotic relationship with earth.

We take and return very little.............so a "virus" ? Probably too extreme, since a virus really returns "nothing" to its host.

  8. I don't think that humans are viruses, since we're mammals.

We may or may not be a plague, but we certainly aren't a virus.

  9. To be honest we are somewhat of a virus as we consume every resource and when it is dried up we move on.

  10. Yes, yes and no not without a major attitude readjustment.

  11. No, because humans are not viruses.  You do know what a virus is don't you?

  12. the agents are coming...RUN!!! Matrix...lol

  13. Yeah, and yeah. That is why we will be wiped out unless we figure out how to set up bases on other planets.

  14. we're the biggest ones yet!

  15. What the h**l is wrong with you people!?  Are you really begrudging the fact that we are the most intelligent of beings and because we've found new and great ways to improve our own lives that we're automatically some form of parasitic creature?  This is what environmental radicalism does to people!  It creates a self-loathing syndrome that makes people hate who and what they are.  All you people are doing is devaluing the lives of yourselves and others by buying into this nonsense that the planet is in dire straights and if we don't do something, it's going to swallow us up.  I, for one, am quite happy with the innovations and intelligence I'm able to use as a person and I sure as h**l won't be sorry for that.  The fact is, people and the planet can coexist in a balanced relationship, even as it is today.  If you truly allow yourself to be roped in by what is nothing more than liberal propaganda, be my guest.  Go and do something about it;  you can live like animals with none of the amenities we all enjoy that make life a little easier. Then I think you'll change your tune.

  16. lol i think so nice way 2 c it lol we need mcafee lol

  17. Humans are the God's greatest creation.  A virus is barely a one-celled organism.  It's our priorities that are screwed up.  We care more for that tree in someone's backyard than we care for the owner of the house and yard the tree is growing in.

  18. Of course we are. I don't think we are the original habitants of this earth, I think the animals were. We showed up one day (I don't want to go into too much otherwise I'll ramble) and pretty much reproduced like rabbits. Soon I don't think we'll all be able to fit on this earth, it'll be cramped.

  19. no, not a virus, a plague maybe...

  20. How are we a virus if the earth was designed for us and it was also designed to be destroyed later?

  21. i dont think that will happen... yet :)

  22. Virus?  No.  Parasite? ...maybe. ; )
