Can humans take brewers yeast? If so, what benefits does it offer?

I know that you can give brewers yeast to dogs but can people take it too? What does it do? What is it good for? If it doesn't do anything beneficial then I wouldn't take it.

I agree with the first answerer. The B Vitamins are known as the anti-stress vitamins and Brewers yeast does contain these and thus taking it could help with stress. Admittedly though, these are present in small amounts. It may benefit the hair, skin and nails, from its B Vitamin content, mineral content and also from its amino acid content. Its all natural so could be considered a food (and perhaps super food) rather than nutritional supplement.

One of its traditional uses in humans as been for the nervous system, for calming the nerves. Again, this goes back to its B Vitamin content. However, if you have been suffering from prolonged nervous exhaustion and stress, a formulated B Complex tablet may offer more benefit owing to having higher concentrations of the individual B Vitamins.Another traditional use is for healthy skin and hair.

Humans have taken Brewers Yeast for hundreds of years through various forms of alcohol from breweries (yes, it's the same thing)  ;-)

Any animal (including humans) can benefit from Brewer's Yeast because it's rich in B vitamins among other nutrients (including trace minerals like Zinc, Selenium, Copper, Iron, Chromium, and Potassium), so it helps for energy, stress, and fighting Homocysteine among many other things. It's an overall good health food.

Also, try it on popcorn, instead of using seasoning/salt! Mmmm good!  Someone made me try it one day, and it's all I eat with popcorn now.
