Can hydrogen fuel be used for all energy needs? Why is there so much focus on using hydrogen energy just for?

  1. I think the main reason it that it will be a clean fuel. The only exhaust from combustion of it will be water. Not to mention it being abundant and cheap.

    The holy grail is fusion to produce energy.

    It would be fairly cheap and none radio active and if the was a breach of the containment vessle the reaction would stop.


  2. Energy derived from the combination of hydrogen and oxygen is problematic.

    I'm all for fusion, however. That would solve all our energy problems.

  3. if u tried using hydrogen to heat your house, then you might not have a house to live in anymore.. because its very flammable.. why do you think they replaced the hydrogen balloons with helium?? yep.. and transportation is a major cause of pollution... so yea. hope that helped you as much as it did to me :D

  4. Hydrogen is three to four times as expensive to produce as gasoline (when produced from its most affordable source, natural gas).

    The President's Hydrogen Fuel Initiative seeks to lower that cost enough to make hydrogen cost-competitive with gasoline by 2010.
