Can i, should i polish my basecoat?

I JUST PAINTED MY CAR BLACK, I GAVE IT 2 COATS , BUT IT STILL LOOKS UNEVEN, I SPREAD IT EVENLY BUT STILL, I WET SAND IT AND ITS SMOOTH, IT MORE ON THE HOOD AND ROOF, I USED A GRAVITY SPRAY GUN. IF I POLISH IT WILL IT HELP, I STILL HAVENT PUT ON MY CLEAR COAT, CAN SOMEONE HELP.

Manufacturer recommends not to wax a new car for like 6 months. Also the if you polish your car before clear coat the clear coat won't stick to the paint.  Hope this is helpful
