This is for airsoft right? I'll be honest, I removed all mine. If I play in a populated area though, I just get some orange electrical tape and put it on the tip of the gun. That way it's temporary and you don't have to have a hideous orange tip that's permanent.

BTW in some states it's not illegal. It's just illegal to buy a gun without one. There's no law stating you can't remove the tip. If you aren't some idiot going to point the thing at a cop, I wouldn't worry about it.
