Can i apply for a british passport?

i was born in zimbabwe but moved to britain when i was 2 i have lived here for 14 years. also my grandfather was held a british passport and lived and was born here. am i able toapply for a passport.

  1. I am not sure to the answer of this question. I would have thought that you would need to apply for a Zimbabewean passport (you can get the from from the Zimbabewean embassy) but if in doubt you could phone up HM and Customs


  2. Yes, you just need to go to the travel agency. And they would tell you what you should do.  I hope that this helps you.

  3. If you have lived in the UK legally for that length of time, you will probably be eligible to apply for naturalization. It's only through naturalization that you will be able to get a British passport.

    You should check how you entered the UK in the first place. Given that Zimbabwe was a member of the Commonwealth at the time you moved to the UK, if you entered under an ancestry visa by way of your grandfather, you would most likely be eligible to apply for IRL (Indefinite Leave To Remain), and subsequently, naturalization.

  4. Only if you are a British citizen. What passport did you use to get to Britain in the first place? Did anyone file paperwork to make you a citizen?
