Can i aquire a permit to carry a "switch blade"/automatic knife in illinois?

my dad is a retired navy seal and gave me a microtech halo for my 18th birthday... i am currently living in the city of chicago and work real late and most nights i have to walk home alone. i would like to carry the knife for defense if i ever need it but i'm pretty sure that not just anybody can carry one like that

I am not 100% sure, but I think that Illinois has some of the most restrictive knife laws in the country, especially concerning automatic knives. Don't forget the restrictive Federal laws too.

I would suggest trying pepper spray for defense rather than a knife, unless you are willing to put in the hours of training it takes to become proficient with it.
