long story short. i goto walgreens for my rx. i went to a different walgreens rather then my normal one for my rx.. ( i was actually in the store shopping, and thought duh i can get my rx filled at this one cuz im here)

well.. they gave me a different generic for adderall then i usually get. been on this stuff for a year. well. these lilttle pink 30mg pills suck. had them for 5 days. they dont help me like the peach ones, which i was told were manufactured by barr. my next appt isnt for 3 weeks, and i cant imagine taking these for that much longer. i think its pretty crappy how walgreens didnt tell me about the change and sent me out the door, stuck with these. . can i call the dr and ask for a new rx? is this is a weird request? they can have my whole bottle of pink pills, i dont want them! its almost as if im not taking anything. or like i need to double my dose.. but i know that would be stupid. suggestions please?

thanks

  1. You can certainly ask, but your insurance company probably won't cover it, especially since it is a form of methamphetamine.  Next time, be sure and inform the pharmacy that you only want that specific generic brand or name brand Adderall.  If the doctor signed the "substitution permitted" line on your prescription, then the pharmacy is perfectly free to substitute any generic brand with no notification to you.  So if you do not request a specific generic or name brand, then you are going to get whatever they choose to give you.

See if they can flag your account so it shows exactly which one you want.  All generics are not equally effective, and sometimes name brand prescriptions are the only ones that work well.  Next time be sure to check the bottle before you leave the pharmacy counter.

  2. Call your doctor and explain what happened and ask if he/she can call in a refill. It can't hurt to try.

  3. Generic doesn't mean less effective--the different generics for adderall and the brand name adderall are all bioequivalent. Many times we feel they are working differently do to psychological reasons. Even if you get a new RX for it, your insurance won't pay for it until a couple days before you're supposed to run out of your current RX.  Honestly, I would just go ahead and keep taking it instead of forking over the money on the new RX before the "refill" (well, until they'll pay for it, since CIIs have no refills) is due.

  4. You get the same generic at every Walgeens.  Walgreens makes a decision on top on which one generic for each drug they will carry.  You can't get a refill on a schedule 2 drug until you are almost out of the current prescription.  There is no significant difference amongst generics.  Most of the supposed difference is do to placebo effect.  Since each schedule 2 fill is unique, I'm not going to check if the manufacturer has changed.

  5. What he said, cept don't punch a dog in the face.

  6. whats wrong with you !! of course you should call the DR explain and persist ,they know its urgent and mental they are not gonna mess with it ...now there could be an issue with your insurance company make sure you clear that out with Wall Greens first ask for the pharmacist in charge have him try you Dr office first .advice dont call go in person.

insist that no one advised you about a generic and tell them that this med is making drowsy.

finally please get some balls !! the darn Dr works for you & as far as wall green is concerned you are the customer and the custumer is always right.

  7. throw the pills away and punch a dog in the face

    you'll feel better
