Can i attach a Hard Drive to the Xbox 360 CORE system??

Yes. You can attach a Xbox harddisc to a Core or Arcade system.

These HD Attachments come in 20, 60 and 120GB sizes.

However, it has to be an original Xbox harddrive. Normal USB harddrives can only be used to store music, movies and other media to play in the media player. Not for game saves and downloads.
