  1. Nooo way, your guinea pig would catch pneumonia and suffer from severely dry skin.

As long as the cage is clean they don't stink, don't worry.

A large cage also smells less,

  2. no, that would wash away important oils on its skin. if she's worrying about it stinking, usually pet stores sell anti odor things. mine never stank anyway.

  3. guinea pigs are very clean animals and groom thenmsleves several times a day, its the cage that stinks.

  4. I couldn't imagine why you would need to. Most guinea pigs are pretty good at keeping themselves clean, but may have a harder time just because they are long haired. I gave my guinea pigs a bath every other time I cleaned their cage, unless they get extra dirty for whatever reason.

I was just at the pet shop today, and I found a bedding that has lavender peddles in it, and is lavender scented. It is completely safe for any rodent pet. I bought some, and have only been using it for 5 hours, my rats already smell like lavender. If you are concerned about smell, then you shouldn't have guinea pigs, rats, hamsters, or anything of the like.

I'm telling you the lavender is splendid.

  5. the guinea pig might get wet tail from that!!! or pnenonia! u don't want to do that.........

  6. No, that's too much. Their fur would get too dry.

you shouldn't need to bathe them so much unless your cage is too small and it isn't cleaned enough.

  7. No you shouldn't. Some dont like it at all, and also their skin will get flakey and itchy. You should do it about once every 3 months, or 5 months. I own 9 guinea pigs and they dont smell at all just as long as i keep the cages clean. Just clean the cages twice a week so that it doesn't smell. The guinea pig doesn't smell, it's it's cage.

  8. Don't worry, guinea pigs do not stink really much at all. Bathing them once a week is to much, but cleaning the cage once a week and doing a partial cage cleaning every other day (Just picking up droppings) will keep the cage from smelling. Also, you should get two because they are herd animals and do much better in pairs! It's actually possible for them to die of loneliness.
