I'm living in the USA at the Moment but i'm going back to Germany soon. Im looking for a Nanny or Au pair job in Germany and wanted to know if there is any law that says I cant be an Au pair or Nanny in Germany if im german myself?

Is there a certain contract for Au pairs that could give me informations on that?

  1. What Heinz stated is very true. The idea is to broaden your horizon, get to know a new country, learn a new language.

No matter whether you´ll be able to find a post: the families would NOT want you. Sorry to be so straightforward. German families get Aupairs from France, the UK, the US, Spain .... and so on because they want their CHILDREN to naturally pick up another language or improve the one they´re learning at school.

Being an AuPair means living with a family and taking care of their kids, so they are the number one priority. The horizon-broadening of the AuPair is some nice little extra, if you want.

So no, there is no law, but no German family or AuPair Organization is going to be interested in taking you on. Sorry.

  2. If you have a German passport, why will you be an au pair? To be an Au pair offers the possibilty to get special  working visa for special jobs. With a German passport you can come and work without restrictions all over Germany and EU. You can get better paid jobs.

    Greetings from Hamburg, Germany

    Heinz
