  1. Hey,

Its really not about how many hits you can or can't take, its more of self discipline, I am a MMA fighter my self, I know BJJ, Muay Thai, Sambo, Boxing, Collegiate Wrestling, and Tae Kwon Do. I aspire to fight in the UFC one day, and my advice for you is, train hard every day, eat right, do well in school, and if your dream fails be sure to have a back up. I really hope you follow my advice and work hard and hopefully one day you'll fight in the octagon and maybe someday be someone aspiring MMA fighters like You and I can look up to.

  2. Chuck Liddell, one of the most dominant fighters in the history of the UFC, has a background in Karate.  That's where his skills come from.  Lyoto Machida, one of the up and comers in the UFC, uses karate as well.  I'm not really sure why the guy above me said that studying karate is a waste of time.  Don't limit yourself though.  It's good to have a full skill set.

  3. Um.... so why are you bothering with Karate?

I mean... lets take a look at current top MMA fighters through any organization in any weights class.....

You see strong leg kicks and high kicks...which you can learn to do without wasting so much time in an actual karate class. If I was you I would be concentrate on the ground game, then your stand up with boxing/muay thai....

    The karate.. not so much

  4. you should probably start by discussing your intentions to compete in mma with your current instructor. also starting jiu jitsu in '...a few months,' is not good enough - start today. it will probably take about three years of three day a week training in jiu jitsu minimum in addition to what you are doing in karate (6 days a week) along with intensive mma focussed fitness training preferably with a personal trainer with experience in training successful mma fighters. you should probably also start competing in full contact karate as soon as possible to get used to competition too.

brazilian jiu jitsu will be essential - the road is long, start now!
