  1. No!

  2. I am a PO and I can tell you that you are automatically disqualified from the application process with a felony conviction.  We aren't an armed department and this still applies. If it's a felony that is able to be reduced to a misdemeanor (some aren't) and if it's non-violent, you have a better chance once you get the reduction or the record expungement.  But it's still doubtful.  Sorry.  : (

  3. Sorry.  PO's are sworn officers of the court.  I haven't heard of a PO being hired with any type of conviction, not even a misdemeanor conviction.  Additionally, most states and all federal POs carry firearms.  You would be prohibited by the mere fact that felons are not allowed to own or possess a firearm.

  4. Probably not.

  5. I am sure that if you had a felony you would be a better probation officer than the ones out there right now.

  6. there's not much you can do unfortunately. :\

  7. Not with it on your record.

Many states have programs where you can expunge old convictions and start anew. Most say you must have:

    No crime of violence

Served your full time, including parole/probation, and then some, sometimes up to three times over.

Been a beneifit to the public at large, employed, all theat good citizenship things.

Show why this would benefit the people.

Then some convictions my be reduced to a misdimeanor and expunged.

Stop by your local courthouse and see if they have a "self help" center. They should have the standards.

Even then, some agencies will not hire even if its expunged. But your quality of life will be better without the conviction. Its worth looking into anyways.

You might not make it, but who knows, you might.

  8. Unfortunately, Probation and Parole Officers are sworn in officers of the court and carry firearms as part of the job. Being an exfelon, you are under Weapons Under Disability and by Federal law are forbidden to carry, own, posses or use firearms.

Sorry. I hope this is useful to you

  9. Nope
