Can i be electrocuted while taking shower, or cleaning dishes during the thunderstorm?

  1. It's extremely unlikely but remotely possible. After all, lightning might  strike you in those situations. Statistically you are much more likely to be killed in a car crash.


  2. From a thunder storm? Probably not. However you can get electrocuted buy your own house. Some houses are electrically earth through the water pipes. Should there be a short circuit through the electrical board the energy is diverted to earth. The electrical earth connector is sometimes connected to the water pipes. More ofter than not the hot water system is also earth via the water pipe.

  3. The lightening bolt will take the path of least electrical resistance to earth ground.  The pipes associated with your shower or dishwasher might be a low resistance path the lightening would take to earth ground.  If so and you were in contact with or even near them then you might get burned from the heat generated by the current flow through the pipes.

    I have never heard of this happening and I think you are just as apt to get electrocuted while picking your nose during a thunderstorm as you would be taking a shower or washing dishes.
