hi, i registered a company, therefore i am th Director. In order for me to get an income, i d like to know if i could be self-employed for this company. I would like to do this so that i can represent this company in France where i would like to live. The company will remain registered in UK but i want to go back and live in France. Being self-employed could give me the possibility to apply for the France social security and i wouldn't have to open a branch . Is this possible? Furthermore, i would work from home , receiving calls and mails as well as the main office. Is this all possible? thank you

  1. It appears that you have got terminology mixed. When you register a limited liability company you are creating an other person. As that artificial person can not function it's own you are helping it by being the director. If you are not getting a salary from the company, you are not an employee. You are an indipendant person and you can claim  social security.

  2. No problem with it

  3. No problem with it. many people do that to see how much in come he get after he paid his employees and him self and the socity to figur out how much profits he got

  4. NO the law was changed years ago to exclude this, the only concession being that directors may pay their stamps weekly as opposed to yearly in advance, even employed as a director you will be required to submit a self assessment tax form, as you may draw dividends from the company, if you are unsure about this ask companies house to send you the relevant booklets dealing with this issue, or apply for their CD called compliance, be aware that the rules changed dramatically on the 4th of april this year. and one person can now run a small company, as a director and subscriber, a company secretary is no longer a legal requirement.
